What is the New Zealand
Health Survey? The New Zealand Health Survey collects information about the
health of New Zealanders and the health services they use. Every year, about 14,000
New Zealand households take part in the survey - addresses from across New
Zealand are chosen randomly, with different households invited to take part
in the survey each month. |
|
Information about the survey is available in a number of
different languages: English, Māori, Samoan, Tongan, Cook Island
Māori, Niuean , Fijian, Chinese, Korean, Hindi and Punjabi. |
|||||
About the Survey From each selected household, one adult aged 15 years or over
and one child are invited to take part (parents/guardians are invited to
complete the survey on behalf of children under 15 years). The survey collects information about common health conditions
and diseases, health services used, and factors that affect New Zealanders’
health. This information is used to give a picture of the health of New
Zealanders, how they use health services such as GPs and hospitals, and to
develop health programmes and services. |
